 4.  Viewing

General

This amounts to moving the camera to see the scene.  All viewing operations act on the current viewport, if multiple viewports are shown. (Click any viewport to make it current.)  In this CAD system, the right-mouse-button is reserved for viewing operations (customizable…)

All the FM commands related to viewing are a temporary FM….

Description

Perspective

Click to set the Perspective projection. Unclick to return to the Parallel projection.

Pan – Moves Camera

This FM allows …. Keep the orientation of the camera unchanged.  Move the whole camera.  If PARALLEL, the same as Pan – Turn Camera Head.

Pan – Turns Camera Head

This FM allows …. The position of the camera remains the same (Camera does not move)Just turn the head of the camera  to see a different direction.  If PARALLEL, the same as Pan – Move Camera.

Rotate – Free

This FM allows ….  This FM allows free rotation of the subject on the screen.  Hold down R-button and move.  Select an element to become the center of rotation.

Rotate – About Global Axes

This FM allows the view rotation about any of the three global axes.  Use TOGGLE  to choose one axis (X, Y, or Z).  Hold down R-button and move to rotate the view.  Defining a point parallel-moves the current rotation axis to that point.

Rotate – Viewport-wise

This FM allows view rotation, with respect to the screen, horizontally, vertically, or perpendicularly.  Use TOGGLE to select one of the three. Hold down R-button and move to rotate the view.  Defining a point parallel-moves the current rotation axis to that point.

Rotate – About Arbitrary Axis

This FM allows view rotation about an arbitrary axis to be defined by the user.  Define the first point of the axis, and then define the second point.  This specifies the rotation axis. Hold down R-button and move to rotate the view.  Defining a point parallel-moves the current rotation axis to that point.  Hit ESCAPE to define the first point again.

Zoom – Change Lens Angle

This FM allows zooming of the view by changing the angle of the lens, just like a zoom-lens in a real-life photography, without changing the camera position. Hold R-button and move the mouse horizontally to zoom in or out.  The actual view angle is displayed on the viewport.  R-click allows the camera to aim in that direction.  Selecting an element (L-click) aims the camera to that element and at the same time sets the viewing center point to that element.  R-button hold-and-drag while holding SHIFT key down achieves a zooming effect which maintains a constant size of the element located at the viewing center.  If PARALLEL, the same as Zoom – Move Camera.

Zoom – Move Camera

This FM allows …. Lens angle remains the same.  The whole camera is moved toward or away from the subject, Thus, the image gets bigger or smaller, respectively.  If PARALLEL, the same as Zoom – Change Lens Angel.

Zoom – Zoom Box

This FM allows …. The user specifies the box to zoom in.  Internally uses Zoom – Change Lens Angle.

Zoom – Fit All

Click this icon to show all elements (not hidden ones) in the viewport.

Ortho XY / Ortho XZ / Ortho YZ

Clicking this icon toggles through all eight (8) possible view settings which produce an XY orthographic projection.  (The same for XZ and YZ also.)

Iso X / Iso Y / Iso Z

Clicking this icon toggles through four (4) of isometric projections with vertical X axis. (The same for vertical Y and Z also.)

Set As Current Plane

Click this icon to set the view as the same as the current plane.

True View ----- NOT WORKING

This FM allows an arbitrary view setting.  The user is prompted to define three (3) non-colinear points.  The first point becomes the …

View Property:

This opens the View Property dialog box..

Element Display Modes:

Shaded – sets the element display to Shaded mode.
Wireframe – sets the element display to wireframe mode.
HRL – sets the element display to Hidden-Line Removal (HLR) mode. Not supported.
